Worst paint ever valspar duramax

Have a great deal of experience in interior and exterior painting. This paint is horrible. No matter what application I use, brush, 3/8 roller, very thin foam roller for smooth surfaces, it left tiny bubbles everywhere that I could not get rid of. Looks horrible. Terrible paint. Will need to sand and redo the entire door with a better paint. Obviouosly, poor quality paint since there was no moisture on the surface. Was bubbling up even in the rolling pan and on the roller before I even applied it to the door. Bought at Lowe's, and would never buy this again.

Valspar Paint Review

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I bought valspar print (because of color choices, usually use Rustolium) to redo a SMALL metal locker. I ended up in the hospital unable to breath. After all the tests from lung to heart they said it was the paint. Never reacted to Rustolium I used for years. I also have a wall that is still tacky after several years.

Valspar color sample Golden Chime number code 539005 Wrong!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I purchased the above sample tried it out on my wall. I love the color, went back to Lowes with the sample gave it to the paint department and purchased 2 gallons. I scheduled the decorator to paint the following week.

I was not at home while the rooms were being painted, but when I return that evening and walked in my home I almost fainted!

My walls were the most horrible color of yellow that you could ever imagine. I immediately called the painter and asked what did you do? This is not the color I brought. He told me he painted with the paint I had left for him and the rest was in the garage.

I called Lowes and told them they had mix the wrong color. I was told to come in and bring the unused paint. I was assured that the correct code was used but to make sure I was given 2 new gallons of paint mixed by a different person only to find it was still the same horrible yellow color.

I told Lowes it must be something wrong with your computer! I had also returned a 3rd gallon in a different color in fear that it was wrong as well, but it wasn't which lead me to believe that it was not Lowes fault who was diligently working with me to resolve this problem.

I called Valspar customer service to make them aware only to be told by some lady who would not allow me to explain what had happened and just start rattling off that the lighting in my home made the color look different or the previous color on the wall, did I use a primer and on and on she went. I finally told her enough please and let me talk will you.

I explained to her that I was in a new home that had builders white paint and plenty of light, had purchased a sample used it on the wall and it was perfect. I also told her that there must be a error in the color code for mixing this color.

This lady told me "that is impossible" Valspar does not make mistakes like this and start telling about how to get coupons, totaling dismissing what I had said. She also suggested that I deal with Lowes since it is a local problem and not Valspar.

I told her I wanted the correct color paint and not coupons. Needless to say the call to Valspar customer service was a waste of time and left me even more frustrated and angry. How dare this customer service person talked to me as if I was an ***.

I called Lowes back and spoke to the manager who was very concerned more than Valspar and apologize for the bad experience I had with Valspar customer service. The manager told me he would have Lowes paint expert call me in which he did. I explained to him the same thing that I told Valspar and one more time, back to Lowes with my sample.

The following day I received a call from Lowes paint department and was told the sample code on these particular samples had indeed been coded incorrectly by Valspar and had been pulled from their shelves and thanked me for bringing this to their attention.

Lowes did try to duplicate the color and came as close as possible but not a exact 100% match. I am very disappointed in Valspar paint and also the way this was handled by their customer service department. However, I am very pleased with Lowes who has been great, who went the extra mile and even apologized for your poorly trained insulting employee.

My walls are the same horrible yellow color for now and must be painted again when I find a new color (different paint brand of course) because I cannot afford to pay twice for an error made by Valspar and be given more insane reasons why the color does not match by the lady in the customer service department who is in desperate need customer service training, once is enough for me!

I know I will never get the correct color or any follow up from Valspar but I hope someone will benefit from my experience especially if you are not doing the painting yourself always check the mixed paint against the sample on the wall side by side before painting or you may end up like me with a total disaster on you hands.

Valspar company does not honor warranty on Duramax paint & primer in one

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I painted my house in Sep. 2013 and by Dec.

2014 the whole house was cracking , peeling and mold- mildew is growing in eves. I contacted Valspar and they sent a Rep. out along with a Lowes employee. They wouldn't walk around and look at ALL the house.

They stood on one side and said it was the deterioration of underlying surface (paint) and water damage. When I asked about mold & mildew he said he didn't know why. I ask for a full purchase price refund and he laughed and said it's not going to happen. This company is HORRIBLE about standing behind their warranty !

I'm upset enough that I'm looking to file a Class Action Law Suit. Anyone interested please contact me at jstreet3336@***.com

Valspar Ultra Satin Paint will not dry - stays tacky, not durable!

I too have had a terrible experience with Valspar Ultra Satin in our bathroom despite having washed the prepainted (with acrylic semi gloss) with TSP, primed with Zinser 123, and put two coats of the Valspar stuff on. Our paint would not dry, stays tacky, not durable, does not match pail to pail - absolutely the worst paint ever used in 40+ years of painting.

The only good thing I can say about it is that it covered well. We took back our remaining paint and with our Lowes bill got a full refund under their warranty - but so what, if the stuff peels then we'll really have a big bill on our hands! I've read several other reviews about people having issues with semi gloss Valspar paint (their satin is almost a semi gloss) in high humidity areas. This must be why their customer service asked about humidity when we painted and whether there was a window in our bathroom.

Our answer was that it was painted in October at about a 46% humidity level (normal) and we have a bathroom fan to vent it for the on or two showers a day. It has been a couple of months and the walls are still tacky. We even used a heater to dry to add some warmer air to the room to heat it up but even at about 80 degrees it did not make a difference.

Don't waste your money on Valspar. It is terrible paint!

Same here...I bought a valspar satin color sample to paint a maple bed headboard & footboard. I had sanded the original finish off, cleaned all of the particles off/washed it with mineral spirits, put on a very good primer, then one coat and a few days later another coat of the color sample.

Several days and the job is STILL TACKY. This is terrible paint!

I used valspar for the first time in a very large room. Still sticky after three days .

Ruined two paint brushes. Does not wash out well.

Had to use nail polish remover to clean my hands after multiple washing . I’m just sick as it’s way too difficult to take off all of my woodwork

same issue others have with paint not drying. Two weeks later still tacky.

I called Valspar customer service and he told me dark pigment takes longer to dry.(clueless).

I returned paint to Lowes for full refund and went to Home Depot and bought Baier Paint and it was dry in 30 minutes. Never buy that Valspar paint again.

This paint completely ruined our cabinets and doors. The worst paint I have ever used and price was high.

I will definitely not use Valspar again and stick with Sherwin williams. Eho cares about refund for paint when it ruined over$2000.00 worth of cabinets and labor.

I am updating my review as shown above. After over a year the paint is finally not tacky to the touch however it still will peel away like a latex skin if you scratch it with your finger nail.

So much for durability! Again, this Valspar paint is absolute junk and so disappointed to have ever bought it. If we ever have to repaint we will likely have to scrape it all off.

My rating is a 0 out of 5 not 4 out of 5! Thanks for the input from Jway about not using TSP before 123 primer but not sure this is the issue with the Valspar given all the other negative comments from people.

Not use tsp if you going to use 123 primer

VALSPAR GLOSS

Do not be seduced by the lovely colours on display and buy this paint, it is total rubbish. I was painting over brown so used the recommended grey undercoat which was a good base. Applying the pink top coat the problem was apparent right away. It was thin, went on like water and did not cover at all no matter how many times I replenished the brush. It just went in all directions. When it dried the surface was like sandpaper most unpleasant on banisters. I rubbed an area down and put another coat on still not covered, and repeated the process again still not covered and brush strokes were visible. At that point I gave up and had Crown mixed. The pink had dried to an unpleasant purple colour with other odd shades showing. Decorating is not easy and the last thing anybody needs is using grossly inferior paint which this is and taking far longer to finish the job.

Avoid it, I'm a professional decorator and was supplied the premium matt( gold tin) by my customer . The wet edge time goes off too quick and is a nightmare to get a satisfactory finish . There is more suppliers out there than B&q .i.e. Crown or Dulux decorator centres where you will get the right advice and the right product first time

Very bad smell with Valspar paint

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I have now broke down in tears over the smell that is so bad I can't even go in my beautiful Art studio. This can't be happing to me. So please read my story and let me tell you what happened.

We built this studio with every thing new, New dry wall new floor just everything. And we painted it with Valspar signature paint. I have been painting interior and exterior for more the 40 years. So I do know what I am doing. I should have just used Benjamin Moore paint. It has been over a year with this horrible smell!!!. So I hired two painters to but Zisser low Odor oil primer it did not work. then repainted with no VOC. Still smell it right though. So I really needed to do a process of alimentation. I had my vinyl floor picked up and put down commercial tiles no it is not the floor. Then today we had pulled the wall air conditioner and heating unit cleaned and used bleach and coil cleaner. It was not the air conditioner. Now it was time to put all my art chair my easel my frames everything I cleaned the studio of all dust this room is really cleaned. The bleach smell was getting to me but I did not care I just want to paint my art work so bad. The building is in my backyard with three Church windows from the 18 hundreds with window boxes flowers are now full and beautiful with a 5 ft Angel outside between the windows. Painted the outside my self yellow. And everything an artist could ever want. But you know the sadist this I guess of all is I am disabled and I see my dream and I can't go in there. Today I cried so hard and gave it my all. I hurt myself from lifting and all the things my Doctor dose not want me to do. I don't know what to do can someone help me?

but for sure it is Valspar that caused all this sadness. Thank you for reading my story

B and q - Valspar mixed paints

Previously I have always used Dulux paints without complaint. However, I recently needed to match gloss and emulsion paints to a specific colour scheme. B & Q now use Valspar brand for their mixing service, so despite the numerous poor reviews, I had no alternative but to use this paint. What a disaster, avoid this stuff like the plague. It took an age to cure and even now the gloss remains tacky to the touch and chips at the slightest scuff or knock. The emulsion took far too many coats and effort to cover previous coatings and appears patchy in places, dependant upon the light source. Really disappointed, will not be using B & Q mixing service and will be reverting to Dulux for all remaining projects.

Valspar - Paint Review from Fishers, Indiana
The valspar spray paint is terrible! It took 3 days to almost dry, it is still tacky and if I gently dust off the wood item I painted, the paint comes off. The color is not even after three coats and it is also not the same color in places! This is horrendous paint! It has ruined my piece of furniture.

You should put a sealer over your furniture. That's why it's tacky.

Get something like polycrylic and put two thin layers on your furniture. That should do the trick hopefully

Awful finish, terrible customer service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Valspar Premium Wood & Metal - seemed like a decent paint to start with, went on well and decent coverage. The big problem is it leaves a fine rough texture not the smooth texture you get from other manufacturers. This is very noticeable on doors. The bigger problem is Valspar customer services, they are simply terrible. No empathy, lack of understanding, denial of product issues and then lied directly to me. Their paint 'test' involved them smearing a blob of paint on a peice of card with a tissue. From this 'test' they determined the paint was fine. I can't get through to anyone who cares enough to take the complaint on. Save your money and choose a more reputable, established company.

I was told by a paint department manager at Lowes that Valspar Reserve paint was a one coat paint. I was looking for a very good paint to cover over a burgundy wall in no more than two coats. It took me four coats to achieve a solid color with Valspar Reserve paint.

Color change - no help from Valspar

I bought 2 gallons of Valspar Signature paint in a sandy brown color. When I applied this to the walls it drying Lavender.

I am not a 16 year old girl, this is not acceptable. I let it dry a few more hours, thought it could possibly be my lighting - turned off all of the lights and it was still Lavender. I called Lowes and they told me to come in and they would help me out. I took my 2 gallons and a picture to Lowes and the reps were wonderful.

They had not idea why it would do this, but were more then happy to return/exchange. I decided to not chance the same color and went to pick out a new color. In the meantime the Lowes rep called the Valspar rep and the Valspar rep wanted to speak to me. She suggested it changed because I cleaned my walls with pinesol before I painted.

I explained that I didn't clean all of my walls but all of it turned Lavender. She wanted me to then prime all of my walls first, they wait 48 hours and then paint. I explained to her that I have a time frame I am dealing with, I took a week off of work to finish this project and that I have carpet coming on Friday (this was Tuesday). She did not care, she would not do anything until I went through these extra steps.

I asked why would she want me to prime it first when I bought the paint with the primer in it? She said that is only a blocker. WHAT??? Sounds like a scam to me.

I hung up very very upset, explained to the Lowes rep that she was not willing to help me (even though I am a local contractor that uses a lot of valspar paint). The Lowes rep told me not to worry about her and Lowes will take care of this - and they did.

So upsetting that Valspar will not stand behind their product and do the right thing - all this was is 2 gallons of paint....
